Canadian conservationists and environmentalists rescued and found an oil-covered eagle last week.
The Canadian Wildlife Rescue Center (MARS) rescued three 'oil-covered' eagles. MARS rescued these birds near Port Hardy and Malcolm Island and moved them to the hospital.
The rescued eagles were unscathed except for oil. One was already released after being washed away, and the rest of the birds were about to be released soon, but the third vulture died.
MARS Warren and Tig said, "The eagle would have been able to fly after it was covered in oil, but it could not fly long distances. When the feathers of birds are oiled, they can not wash themselves off, and they can lose their natural buoyancy when they fall into the water. "
"Even though the feathers were oiled, the eagles could fly, so I could not tell where the oil was," said Registrar of Animals, Lek Westcott.
"I am worried that there may be more eagles injured that they have not found yet," he said.
"It takes a lot of time and effort to care for the oiled eagle, and it's difficult because the birds are being transported to a new hospital and getting accustomed to the facility," Pearl McKenzie, assistant director of MARS, explained.
"I have decided to start the investigation by asking the conservation officer for help to let me know about the current situation and find out where the oil of the eagles is buried," he said.
